ArcGlass Listen: Quickstart

Install, record, done. About a minute to a real transcript.

ArcGlass Listen transcribes meetings on-device on your Mac or PC (no meeting bot, nothing to configure first). This page covers the four things that actually happen: permissions, your first recording, where the transcript goes, and connecting your account.

Permissions

The first time you open the app, it asks for what it needs to transcribe on-device. Only microphone is required. Everything else improves the result, but nothing blocks you if you skip it.

Microphone (required).Transcribes your voice.
System audio (optional).Captures remote participants' audio playing through your computer.
Calendar (optional).Matches recordings to meetings and names remote speakers from the invite when there's exactly one attendee besides you.

Nothing is sent anywhere yet. Permissions only control what the app can capture on-device. Recording still requires you to press Record, and uploading still requires the separate consent step in step 4.

Record your first meeting

Press Record from the menu bar (macOS) or tray (Windows). A small floating indicator shows you're live. Press Stop when the meeting ends, or let it end itself: Listen recognizes common signals (the meeting app quitting, the calendar event ending) and asks before auto-stopping, with a few seconds to cancel if you're still talking.

Transcription runs entirely on-device. Nothing needs to be uploaded for you to get a transcript.

Where the transcript goes

Every recording is saved locally as Markdown (plus JSON, if you enable it in Settings) in your chosen output folder. Nothing leaves your machine until you connect an account and enable upload. Once you do, ArcGlass analyzes the meeting for churn risk, feature requests, and follow-ups, and it shows up in the Meetings view in the console.

Connect your account

Analysis is the point of ArcGlass, and it needs an account and an upload, but getting one costs a single tap. Choose "Continue with Google, Microsoft, or GitHub" on the sign-in screen: if you're new, that same tap creates your account, your workspace, and everything it needs, automatically. No separate signup page, no pipeline to configure, no project to create first.

The one screen after that asks about upload specifically, and names the workspace by name, so you always know exactly where a recording is going before the first one leaves your machine. You can turn upload on or off at any time from Settings.

Prefer not to use a provider? Email signup works too, from console.arcglass.io/signup (it just requires a work email address rather than a personal one).

If something looks stuck

Enabled System Audio in Settings, but it still says off.macOS caches this permission per launch. Quit and reopen the app after granting it.
Calendar permission prompt never appeared.macOS sometimes blocks the system prompt outright: enable ArcGlass Listen directly under Privacy & Security › Calendars.
A meeting uploaded but you can't find it.Open it from the confirmation banner in the app, or check the Meetings view in the console directly. A fresh upload can take a few seconds to finish analysis.
